Correspondence, receipts, accounts, and documents relating to the business affairs of William Troup, leather merchant, of Boston, including papers concerning his partnership in the firm of John Tillson and Company and his initiation of action in 1885 on French spoliation claims for losses sustained by the sloops Catherine, Friendship, and Polly, owned by John Peterson, of Bath, Me.; together with diaries of Troup's sons, Charles A.S. Troup and George H. Troup, which include descriptions of military activities while serving with the 43rd Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, chiefly at New Bern, N.C., during the Civil War.
